So my story simply starts off how excited I was that for the first time in 2 years I get to deliver a cakes (professionally) with my mom (she lives in Florida and I live in Ohio) because she was flying in a few hours before I had to deliver a wedding cake. Well we load up in the back of the van and as always my husband, G. sits in the back with the cakes, this was a 4 tiered all butter cream cake. One our delivery about 15 miles away from my kitchen, G says can you slow it down a bit things are not looking so good back here. My heart starts to pump real hard but I quickly calm myself down, "if anything I had my tool box and I can fix it with no problem and no one will ever notice". We get to the reception about 30 minutes early and were waiting outside, I still haven't taken a look at the cake thinking it was ok. Well the temperature outside was 96 degrease but I had the air condition on in the van blasting so still it didn't occur that the temperature would affect my beautiful cake. When the venue opened their doors, I give my husband thumbs up to start moving the cake toward the door so we can carry it in; I swing the door open and OH MY GOODNESS! MY BEAUTIFUL CAKE WAS BARELY STANDING! ok I thought to myself, I have to fix this, because this cake is suppose to be in the center of the dance floor! needless to say I managed to talk the bride into set the cake up towards the corner of the room, BUT by the time we put in on the table and took a few snap shots gravity took over and it came TUMBLING DOWN! and so did the tears down my face. I've never been in this type of situation before and didn't know what to do; sadly my bride never got to see her beautiful cake standing and all she saw were the pictures that I took moments before it tumbled down the table.
You'll see in the before pictures how beautiful it looked from the the front, but how awful it had shifted during delivery and then the final pictures of it all over the place... this memory still hunts me every time I deliver a wedding cake...
(These pictures were taken with my cell phone camera but you can see every detail of my cake disaster: picture #1 how the cake looked at the table after I tried to fix the damage. picture #2 how badly it sifted during the trip and picture #3 how it all ended. )

Sweet Wishes!
